Event Name:  An inquiry about Mars
Event Description:  In March 2016 the first launch will take place of ESA’s ExoMars Program. By organizing a panel discussion about the planned exploration of the red planet, we seek to enhance the public’s awareness for the coming Mars missions. Our guests speakers are Ann Carine Vandaele and Nicky De Munster. Ann Carine Vandaele (BIRA) is principal investigator of the NOMAD-instrument (on board of the ExoMars Orbiter) and part of an international study group iMARS (International Mars Architecture for the Return of Samples). She teach us a lot about the technical aspects and specific difficulties of robotic explorations. Nicky De Munster, Space Educator and member of the European Space Society, participated twice in the Mars Simulations of the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. He will elaborate on the specific training, needs and quandaries for human exploration in future Mars missions. This event will take place in the Public Observatory Armand Pien in Ghent. Wednesday 7th October 2015, 20h00-21h30.
